Mahaisustrai means ‘root table’ in euskera, the Basque language. It is the term that a team integrated by two artisans and two artists coined on the occasion of the 2013 edition of Basquecrafts by Design.
The idea behind the project was that the team, whose members had no prior knowledge of each other, should meet during three short creative sessions to the end of creating a useful object. Due to the short timeframe of this project, the end result was that of a purely experimental process.
